Express Entry serves as Canada’s principal system for managing immigration applications in the economic immigration category. It operates as a comprehensive points-based framework designed to identify candidates with the highest potential for success in Canada’s labour market, thus contributing to the nation’s economic growth. Within the Express Entry system, three primary categories are offered:
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP):
- Eligibility is determined based on a points system that evaluates factors such as education, language proficiency, work experience, age, arranged employment in Canada, and adaptability.
- Prospective applicants must obtain a minimum score of 67 points out of 100 to qualify for this program.
- Meeting the requirements for the FSWP is the first step in becoming eligible for Express Entry.
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP):
- Specifically tailored for skilled tradespeople aspiring to immigrate to Canada.
- Eligibility prerequisites include a minimum of two years' work experience in a skilled trade within the last five years, fulfillment of specified language proficiency standards, and either a job offer in Canada or a Certificate of Qualification from a Canadian provincial or territorial authority.
- Similar to the FSWP, candidates in this category must also create a profile in the Express Entry system to be eligible.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC):
- CEC facilitates foreign nationals who have accumulated at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada to apply for Permanent Residence, predicated on their Canadian work background.
- Eligibility criteria encompass a minimum of one year of full-time skilled work experience in Canada within the three years preceding the application.
- Candidates in this category must also create an Express Entry profile and subsequently receive an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence.
